The Fourth Watch Is The Right Time

Storms are not punishment...they're opportunities to grow in strength and knowledge. In this powerful message, we dive into the true meaning of storms and what God does through them.

Message Notes

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship...And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
— Matthew 14:22–25

The fourth watch isn’t too late—it’s right on time.
When it’s darkest and you’re most tired—that’s when Jesus is fixing to show up.

  1. God Sends Us Into Storms

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
— Matthew 14:22
  • After the disciples assisted Jesus in the miracle feeding of 5,000, Jesus immediately sends them into a storm

  • Jesus constrained [pushed them…pressured them…sent them on purpose] into the boat.

You don’t grow in the crowd of miracles—you grow in the chaos of storms.

2. God Is Always Right On Time

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him...
— Matthew 14:31
  • When they cried out, “It’s a ghost,” Jesus immediately responded, “Be of good cheer…”

  • When Peter began to sink, Jesus immediately reached out and caught him.

God doesn’t show up when we expect. But He always shows up immediately at the right time.

3. Storms Show Us Who God Is

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
— Matthew 14:33
  • This was the first time the disciples collectively worshipped Jesus and confessed who He truly was.

  • The storm wasn’t just a struggle—it was a setup for revelation

The storms of your life are opportunities for God to reveal Himself as Provider, Peace, Healer…

Response

  • You may be rowing against waves of fear, heartbreak, or exhaustion.

    • But God is not late…He is not distant...and He is not silent.

  • You may feel like it’s your darkest hour and that all hope seems lost.

    • But this is where God reveals Himself—not just as the One who saves, but the One who stays.

The fourth watch may be dark—but it’s the right time for God to show up.
