Strong Enough To Be Weak

"Real strength begins the moment you're willing to let go ." In this powerful message, we explore the true Strength of Israel in the story of King Saul.

Message Notes

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
— 2 Corinthians 12:9

You don’t need more strength. You need to be strong enough to be weak.

  1. My Strength Is Impatient

And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
— 1 Samuel 13:9
  • Saul was strong enough to wait seven days… but not strong enough to wait one more hour.

  • Waiting feels weak, but in the Kingdom, waiting is worship.

  • God’s strength doesn’t come on our timeline—it comes when we surrender.

Saul lost the future because he refused to surrender the moment.

2. My Strength Is Reckless

Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies.
— 1 Samuel 14:24
  • Saul made a vow God never asked for—and nearly got his son killed.

  • Our strength, when misused, becomes reckless.

  • God’s strength doesn’t need our performance, just our surrender.

Saul used a vow of fasting to try to control God… this wasn’t obedience, it was manipulation.

3. My Strength Is Selective

Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
— 1 Samuel 15:22
  • Saul obeyed selectively—destroying what he chose, sparing what made sense to him.

  • Selective strength says: “I’ll obey… later.”

  • But obedience delayed is still disobedience.

It’s not just what you’re willing to lay down—it’s when.

Response

  • Saul relied on his own strength—impatient, reckless, and selective.

  • But God’s strength? It’s made perfect in weakness.

Be strong enough to surrender. That’s when grace takes over.
