Look to the Hills
"We are not the people of fear. We are the people of Zion — the people who look to the hills where our help comes from." In this message, we are reminded that God is already exalted above everything we can face.
Message Notes
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.”
Some things are seasonal. But some things should remain within us permanently.
The High Place Problem
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.”
In ancient culture, mountains weren’t just geography — they were theology.
Israel cluttered their horizon with high places and idols that shrank their vision of God.
Isaiah saw Zion exalted above them all — God lifted higher than every rival.
God was clear: 'You don’t get to pick your high place. I AM your high place
2. Christ, the True High Place
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
Zion pointed forward — a shadow of something greater.
On Calvary’s hill, the mountain gave way to the Man, the temple gave way to the Savior.
Christ is lifted higher than sin, shame, death, and every false high place.
The soldiers thought they were lifting Him for death, but heaven saw Jesus lifted for salvation.
3. Our Shared Calling as His People
“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
Today, the witness of God isn’t tied to a temple but revealed through His people.
The church is called to live lifted — with eyes on Christ and lives pointing others to Him.
Our unity, hope, and love are how the world sees Christ exalted in us.
We are the people of Zion — the people who look to the hills where our help comes from.
Response
Don’t let fear, shame, or problems take the high place in your mind.
When anxiety rises, declare: “Christ is higher.”
Walk in faith, hope, and love so the world sees Christ lifted through you.
